Times of Youth: For those who don’t know about you and your work, can you tell us a little about yourself?
Syed Hassam Hussain Jafri: Hi, I am Syed Hassam Hussain Jafri, I’m 25 years old and originally a Self Taught Concept Artist from Karachi Pakistan, Currently studying Bachelors of Computer Arts from Pakistan Air Force (KIET)’s College of Media & Arts in majors of animation. I have been working in different fields like Video editor and 3D artist, worked on several commercials for some very well known brands, also a Pro Football player since 2005, also a Pro Photographer.
Times of Youth: How would you describe your work to someone who has never known about it?
Syed Hassam Hussain Jafri: Well, My work describes whole me, it represents what I like and how the world looks like in my imagination. I love to work on Fantasy. I live in Fantasy. I do everything my heart says Right, so I portray my imagination through my artworks. Mostly my characters of interest are Monsters, Creatures, Sci-Fi Environment. I also love to create characters with complete scenes so any person with normal eye can see it and say “WOW” or “EWW”.
Times of Youth: What sparked your initial interest in graphics?
Syed Hassam Hussain Jafri: It’s not really graphics which inspires me. It’s the Curiosity that sparks me to explore and to see things with a different eye or angle. I’m a Concept Artist, too, but I can do Graphics designing too.
Times of Youth: At what age did you start doing all this work? Has your family always been supportive of this choice of career?
Syed Hassam Hussain Jafri: I have been drawing, Making Sculptures using Plasticine, Models using Card Board, Making technical toys since I was 10. I mostly stayed alone and like to be alone, so Drawing, Sculpting, Modeling was my partner in life, and my family always supported me to be me and yes I faced loads of negatives responses for choosing Art as my career. In the start, it was pretty difficult but I’m really thankful to my parents and Allah for giving me strength for becoming “Me”.
Times of Youth: Which of your projects are you most proud of and why?
Syed Hassam Hussain Jafri: My every personal project makes me proud as my every new project made me learning anything new, But the following projects made me proud the most :
- Ufone Karachi Offer: because it was my first commercial for such a Huge brand of Pakistan which was done in only one night.
- The Michelangelo from TMNT: it was the first complete character I made ever made with proper Lights, textures and composed for environment.
- 3 Venom from Spider man: I got a huge response from my fans and follower as well as the creators of this character “Stan Winston School of Character Art” itself.
Times of Youth: Where do you see yourself in next 5 years?
Syed Hassam Hussain Jafri: I see myself as a very well known Concept Character Artist/Expert in future and as an inspiration or guideline for the new comers.
Times of Youth: Any message to followers via TIMES OF YOUTH?
Syed Hassam Hussain Jafri: My message is just as simple as the motto I follow and that makes me doing everything and anything, and I would like to share it with everybody “If He or She can do, then why can’t you?”. Everything takes time, sometimes its early and sometimes its late but only if you trust in Allah and You, then trust me you will get anything and everything you want sooner or later.
