Jabran Philips: I, Jabran Philips from Rawalpindi, Pakistan, have been doing photography for last 2 years. I am interested to photograph versatile subjects such as landscapes, action/sports, events, birds etc. Photography is not only my hobby, but passion as well. I also want to mention that I learnt this art from Abdul Sattar Khokhar, Fouad Mustafa and Riaz Javeed Saddiki.
Times of Youth: What do you want your viewers to take away from your work?
Jabran Philips: I want my viewers to see through my work, that not only expensive equipment can get good photographs for you, but the real thing that matters is your “eye”. Equipment only adds better quality to photographs which should be considered only as a tool.
Jabran Philips: The following are some of my favourite known photographers, who always admire me in my work also.
Sir Gulraiz Ghori, Sir Razzaq, Sir Azhar Hafeez, Sir S. M. Bukhari, Sir Asif Sherazi; they are my great inspirations and I learn a lot from their work. I have learnt a lot through their photos and their influence on my photography is that I try to better understand about light, composition, framing, etc. and I try to keep my images as close to real as possible.
Jabran Philips: The only tip I want to give is to work hard, each step may be difficult but will lead to a beautiful view from above and don’t waste precious time.
Jabran Philips: A landscape I captured at Ayub National Park at Rawalpindi is one of my favorite, because it show the loneliness in it. That picture shows my mood.
