I am Ashar Ahmed Farooqui from Karachi, Pakistan. I am 20 years old. Getting into art was no less than a miracle for me, I was a pre-engineering student and after high school I decided to apply for architecture in National College of Arts and for that I joined a studio to get prepared for the entrance test, I still remember I used to get highest marks in imaginative drawing classes. However while practicing there I discovered this hidden talent in me. Although my Father and extended family had some issues but I really give the credit to my Teacher, Mother and some very close friends who appreciated my work, encouraged me and stood by my side always. Art for me is a way to tell a story and evoke a feeling.
My work depicts what I see and feel every day, through my work I want people to see life and the environment which we live in from my perspective. Part of my process before I begin working is to research, relate and link ideas and that is the reason my work is versatile. It often includes human figures, facial features and expressions whereas City Views and abstracts can also be seen. Charcoal, Watercolors, Graphite pencils and Oil Paints have been utilized as tools to create imagery that is in both real and surreal. I have been fascinated by cultures and traditions and bright colors have always attracted me, my work is very much influenced with these features.
As an artist I work hard to develop paintings that speak both for me and for people who were long ago silenced. I have exhibited my work a few time only. At present I am working on some of my leftover Calligraphic Oil Paintings.
